I am Goddexx

Role: Art director, designer, front-end web design, UX design, social media strategist, social content designer

Poet, spiritual leader, performer, and tarot reader, I am Goddexx needed a brand to facilitate their growth into a multi-faceted community leader. The goal was to create an approachable brand of expertise with faith in the context of the BIPOC, Queer, and Trans communities otherwise ostracized from conventional religious practices.

Brand and Identity

Central to the I am Goddexx brand was the goal of rebuking notions of gender while also honoring every way that gender could be expressed. Central to this was the symbology of a butterfly with its metamorphosis of change and beauty.

As such, the logo was half a butterfly’s wing while the other was their own shaved head, refined brows, and lashes that marked their own aesthetic.

The colors conveyed the three stages of a metamorphosis: Red, as the need to focus and prepare for change, gold, for the color of sitting in the process of change, and blue, of a butterfly’s wings to show the results of progress.

Social Content & strategy

While posting consistency was key for this brand, too clean and sharp of a strategy might feel like a branded experience: in this case, branding was meant to add credibility, not modernity.

As such, posting sequencing was kept loose and intimate - the quotes in the droplets were pulled from their poetry to lend some familiarity with their spiritual approach while selfies in between served as intimate snapshots into their own life.

Website

In collaboration with Ginny Silva - developer and Anthon Smith - photography

The culmination of our work together was Goddexx’s website: a place where her followers could learn more about Godddexx, purchase services, one-on-one, and book their time. Working with Ginny Silva, developer, we created a website every bit as mystical as Goddexx themself.
